Problem

The organiser’s of WOMAD needed to erect an event stage and backstage area for the internationally acclaimed music, arts and dance festival. Crew, vehicles, staff and equipment were required to traverse safely across the soft sandy beach of The Corniche in searing temperatures, and speedily assemble the event stage within a very tight time schedule and with extremely restricted access.

Solution

Over 2,500 EuroMat®, Zigma®’s premium heavy duty man handable access mat, were supplied and installed by TerraTech, Zigma®’s Middle East partner, to provide a safe and stable access route for plant, machinery and pedestrians. Fast and simple to deploy and capable of supporting loads up to 80 tonnes, EuroMat®, featuring the unique ‘chevron traction’, was the ideal temporary access solution.

Verdict

The WOMAD organisers were delighted with the results. By using EuroMat® the event stage was set up very quickly and efficiently, providing maximum safety to the event crews and minimal danger and inconvenience to the beach users and pedestrians.
